Fresh as a Daisy

The last half of April was super busy for my family! I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted a blog entry for half a month, but I suppose that is what happens when you can’t check the internet from work.
One thing that happened is I have been substituting almost every day which can really wear a girl out! I’ve substituted for Pre-k, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 7th through 12th. Even for the 9-10 office as a secretary, and the 11-12 office as a secretary. Monday, I get to sub as a librarian! WoooHooo! And school ends May 27th. Ack!! Time to really get on the ball and find something for the summer. How do you look when you are so busy?
Meanwhile, on top of substituting, in the last month, I’ve gone to a wedding, an all day Presbyterian Women’s Pink Hat day function, Chuck E. Cheese for half a day, and a Jason Mraz concert. Actually, the concert, and Chuck E. Cheese were just this week. Along with a kindergarten spring musical production.
The music teacher sent out notes two weeks ago asking if some kids could wear costumes. Suzanne was picked in her class to be a flower. Two boys in her class were picked to be turkeys. Turkeys??!? What? One was super cute, when he turned around to shake his tale feathers, there was a sign that said “Eat More Beef” on the back. Cracked the audience up.
But I digress…
In kindergarten, they learn songs appropriate to the season, so the teacher thought for the end of the year, they’d just sing a montage of songs they had learned over the whole school year. So the stage had all sorts of characters, and in the end, it was quite fun and a good idea on her part. I just can’t imagine what the parent thought who got a note from the music teacher asking if her child could be Santa. They even sang “What a Wonderful World” with kids dressed as a tree, the sky, cloud, sun and moon. Santa is a breeze compared to trying to create a costume for the moon!
I also mentioned going to a Jason Mraz concert. I got invited last Saturday by my mother! She stepped out of her comfort zone and went to her first concert EVer! She’s been to Broadway shows and symphony concerts that have come to central Arkansas, but never in her life has she gone to a ‘rock’ music concert. She was positively giddy with excitement and that made it all the more fun. She said she was celebrating Mother’s day early with just her and her girls (my sister also went) and the three of us had a great time.
Today has been a stormy day so far. A perfect excuse to stay indoors, watch movies, surf online, and catch up on some laundry. The nice thing about busy days, is that they make you appreciate the slow ones more. Just like the nice thing about slow weeks, is that you sometimes welcome the busy ones. Especially when they are busy with good things.
I’ll try to stay more ontop of my blog. There has also been some politics and crazy misc stuff going through my head to blog about. Enough about me though, so how you been doin’? (repeat using Joey from Friends voice)
