Wow!
by GinafishI think it’s very telling that Washington, D.C. voted for Obama 97% and for McCain 3%…wow!
Normally this time of year, I bash the dreaded electoral college. Because really. If I didn’t vote for who the electorate people in my state voted for, then I didn’t really vote for President, did I? So I didn’t vote for Obama, or McCain, but I did chose a 3rd party candidate, and amazingly, hubby voted for the same one. But when it came down to it, my vote for president really didn’t matter much. The consitution is devised so that it’s more important for popular votes to pick the right Senators and Congressmen, while the population picks the President. Weird. Reading the wikipedia article on the electoral college is quite an eye opener. It pretty much sums up my suspicion that there is no desire for a third party and that third party votes are pretty useless. At least I have peace of mind about who I voted for though. And that’s something.
So with all they hype about early voting, etc, I waited until Tuesday. And then waited in line for an hour. With my suduko puzzle book to keep me company.
I got about four puzzles completely done. And then I voted within a matter of 4 minutes. Pretty painless.
Last night, rather than have the tv on, we watched Shrek 2 as a family. Then this morning, we turned on the tv to see who had won. Suzanne was happy it was Obama, her whole class had voted for him. I think 5 year olds really like saying his name. Rhymes with mama so I can see why. Hehe!
Friday night, my church is sponsoring a hayride with free hotdogs and marshmallows. If you live in the Beebe Area of Arkansas, you should contact me for details, it’ll be a good time.
Nice and DARK!
And most of all, I wanted to post for sure on this day to say “Happy Birthday LESLiE!!”
