Update
by GinafishHurricane Ike came and knocked out our electricity for over 24 hours. What fun! :-/ Luckily, we had a place to stay with electricity so all was well. It was really hard to imagine how a level two hurricane could affect Galveston and the coast so violently. And then Houston lost 90% power, and the storm traveled all the way up to the Ohio valley knocking out electricity for more and more people. I feel for all those power line people having to still deal with power out in Louisiana from Gustav and now scrambling to restore power for lots and lots of frustrated people. And say prayers for the families of the power line people too who are living without their family member right now while they are on the road for what looks like at least a month. So thoughts on Galveston and hurricanes, pray pray pray.
Now another topic, I have a job interview today! Woohoo! It’s with Edward Jones the investment firm, and honestly, with all the bad economic news on tv, it’s the last kind of job I want to get! Bad news all the time and all that. The job is in a town 30 miles away, Searcy, but only 15 miles from the kids school, and the job is full time from 8 to 5. The thing is, I’m getting pretty antsy about wanting a job, so I hope I don’t come interview in a bad, nervous way, and then what if the hourly rate isn’t worth it? So who knows. We’ll see.
Good news, we’ve managed to squeeze in enough time and funds to take the kids camping for a few days. We are going to check them out of school Thursday after lunch, and then take the in-laws travel trailer up to a small park that is beside a trout fishing spot and relax until Saturday afternoon. Thursday also happens to be Ethan’s 8th birthday! So after we park the camper, we’ll head to Heber Springs, a small retirement sort of city to look for a pizza place to celebrate.
Then on Sunday, the church is having a celebration service for Josh. Most of the time, when a presbyterian church hires a new pastor, they have an installation service. For some reason, they don’t do this with Commissioned Lay Pastors, only Ministers of the Word, so our church took it upon themselves to have a recognition service to recognize Josh as the new pastor for at least the next three years. Josh’s former teacher will be preaching, and lots of people have been invited. My mother-in-law and I went up to the church and cleaned all the dustbunnies out and washed all the good dishes to get ready. What will suck is if after everyone eats, if she and I get stuck in the kitchen again to wash them all the second time around! But it might happen because by the time it’s time to wash, everyone else might have headed toward the doors. Who knows. I’m so optimistic sometimes. *rolling eyes*
In the end, I’m optimistic that no matter what else is going on in the world, for Thursday through Saturday, I will have a wonderful time with my family!
What are your thoughts on the hurricanes? Are you a news junkie, or do you just pay attention to the good news or more local area for you?

Good luck on the interview!!
My grandparents live in Florida and so I am always a little antsy when it comes to hurricanes. As soon as I know it isn’t projected to hit them, I “cool down” a little…just a little. Bad weather is my downfall! I worry, especially if my kids aren’t with me!!
