Spiderman

Today, my son watched his first PG-13 movie. And yes, he’s only 7. From the title, did you figure out what movie it was?

Batman was his first choice, but Josh and I agreed that the whole Batman series is just a bit to dark for his age. When I returned from the rental place with Spiderman (the original), he was filled with angst. “But I wanted to watch BaaAAATttMMaaannnnnNNnnnn” *sniff sniff*

*insert rolling eyes here* So I put my foot down and told him that he could either watch Spiderman, or go to the *gasp!* grocery store with me.

He chose the lesser of two evils. And I was glad. I actually opted to go to the store later and sat down to watch Spiderman too.

The box said it was PG-13 for language and sequence violence or something like that. In the first 15 minutes, I heard the word “ass” three times by the same character (the good ole’ Uncle Ben) and the violence was about the same level as watching the Mighty Morphon Power Rangers. There was also one kiss, but Spidey was hanging upside down, so it didn’t get freaky with any groping or anything.

I didn’t get to watch the last 30 minutes, but my mother watched it with Ethan. By the end of the movie, I think he was a Spiderman fan. Luckily, he’s already climbing walls (actually door frames) so all I have to worry about is him swinging from ropes dangling helter skelter. ~lol

Nope, he isn’t going to watch Spidey 2 or 3 anytime soon, Batman, or the Incredible Hulk. But I sure would like to see the new Batman movie. Anyone seen it?

  1. Kylie’s first PG-13 movie was Pirates of the Caribbean. Her second was Spiderman (TBS played it for like 4 days straight and she HAD to watch it every time).

I’m not planning on going to the theater to see the new Batman movie but I’m sure JD will rent it when it comes out. The first one with Joker (Jack Nickelson) freaked me out…but I was like 10 or something so maybe I can handle it now :)
