Ecks!

by Ginafish

I was about to head to slumberland and remembered I hadn’t blogged yet today. And I am really sincerely trying to blog my 30 days like I said I would. And then after that, I hope it is a habit.

So Ethan’s dentist appointment went well, he wasn’t in as much pain as the last time. He was sulking today because I was still limiting his diet. But still he managed not to starve to death. He ate a lot of ice cream treats at Grandma’s and sherbert at home. Along with mac & cheese, and beans so he’s had solids.

I asked the dentist why he chose Pediatric Dental care, and he admitted that it had sort of ‘happened’ to him. After college, dental school is another four years. During the 4th year is when he was told by his instructors that he’d be really good at pediatric dental work. So he opted to stay on for that and spent another two years in dental school. How tricky are kids teeth that you have to study another two years?? I mean, come one?! They lose teeth and they have smaller mouths. Other than that, I would think adults mouths would need more “learning”. They have had bad dental habits for years. But I do like the way the dentist tells my kids every three minutes how proud he is of them. His two extra years of schooling was worth that alone. Even though the kids are totally plugged into whatever tv show is playing in the ceiling and don’t even hear his praise.
Did you read that right? The Pediatric dental office has tv’s in the ceiling and the kids wear headphones. They totally glaze over and ignore the dentist. I sure wish the general dentistry would pick up on that. I’d totally enjoy a game show over hearingĀ  a whiny toothbrush or the scrapping of plaque. Guess next time I’ll protest and take my ipod. I wonder how many young adults transition from the pediatric dentist by taking their ipods and tuning the doctor out? Hmm….

What do you think of annual dentist trips? Do you like nitrous oxide? Do you want tv’s in the ceiling?

  1. Hmmm…didn’t know that about the extra time for pediatric dentistry…

Which clinic do your kids go to? Mine go to Conway Pediatric Dental and see Dr. Havard. They all love him! Well, the boys have only been once (they all have appointments in Sept) so I can’t really say that they LOVE him…

I am all for TV’s in the ceiling! And, I have only had one cavity when I was around 10…I’m sure I had laughing gas but don’t really remember it. I bet it is great though!

  2. I think that is the same dr. Youngish hotty? His bday is Feb 12 and he is 34. :)
