Less than a week away
by GinafishChristmas isn’t too far now! Most all of the shopping is completed and we are on schedule for visiting Santa this Saturday. I had a wrap-a-thon on Tuesday and wrapped a LOT of presents! I think by the end of the day it was about 52. Most of those were from my kids to other people. They each get to write their own list, then buy gifts at the dollar store. Those 45 gifts or so for people not living in our house are in boxes in the living room, ready for us to go deliver. It’s always fun to see what the kids pick and who they decide to shop for. Suzanne wanted to buy a gift for Santa but I forgot to read his name at the store. Opps!
About four of them, were wrapped in secret so the kids couldn’t see what they were. We also received a couple of gifts from Amazon.com and so our tree now has a nice collection of gifts. Let me tell ya, I was beginning to wonder if Santa should even bother to wrap gifts this year or just put them out in plain sight. Especially after last years fiasco. Although last year, we had to hide Santa’s gifts at our house, so this year they are tucked away at someone else’s house. Which means I could wrap well ahead of Christmas eve if I wanted to.
After Tuesday, there was a big long sigh of “Do I really want to wrap presents from Santa?”
I asked hubby. He said, it was up to me.
The thing is, that wrapping really wasn’t too tough this year. I bought a ThermaCare Heatwrap and took 500 mg of Naproxen. Took the Naproxen with lunch and opened up the ThermaCare heatwrap at noon and slapped it on old Pete. Yes, the same Pete from last Christmas. He still comes out to annoy me and I wasn’t going to have it this time around. I had never tried a ThermaCare product before and if they want any true life testimonials about it’s wonders, I’m their gal! I swear! I almost started to get ’shimmery’ with heat even as 7:30 p.m. was approaching! When they say 8 hours of heat, they MEAN it!
Anywho, now that two days have passed, since Pete didn’t rear his ugly head, I’m thinking I should really wrap the gifts from Santa. Little kid’s love tearing open present, right? And if they aren’t wrapped, then they know right away and I might not get the camera out in time to capture their grins. And hoots and hollers if Daddy has his way. Especially since the “Wow!” gifts are a new bike for son and a stuffed pink poodle as large as the bike for daughter.
So how about you? If you buy something big and awkward like a bike, do you attempt to wrap it? Use one of those big bags? Use a trash bag? Leave it alone but somewhere prominent in the living room? What do you do and what do you suggest? Wrap, no wrap, I need Opinions People!!

We are running into that this year. But, we will end up wrapping the presents from us and Santa. We do have some awkward gifts. My brother wanted an ironing board (yes, he is finally growing up) and my mom wanted a new boat oar. How do I wrap those?? So we’ll see. They may just be leaning against the fireplace or something.
