Internet Roadtrip
by GinafishSometimes I just get sucked into the vortex of the internet and I start reading about the oddest things….
Today is was squatting toilets. What?!?
Over 50% of the humans on the earth, squat to take care of business. Closer to 70%. The toilet wasn’t invented until the late 1800s and one guy whose website I read, said that the American Standard toilet is the reason for a large percentage of colon problems like constipation, ibd, colon cancer, ulcerative colitis, and things related to appendicitis, and prolapsed organs (a large reason for hysterectomies). Anyway, these things still relatively unknown of countries like China, India, the Middle East, South America and Africa where the squat is the regular position.
It’s all fascinating to me. But I’m weird. I haven’t traveled anywhere to see one of these in person but at least after today, I’d have an idea of how to squat to use them.
And in the US, you can buy ’stands’ that go around your tall toilet, and can be removed quickly.
BizArre! Course, I’m also fascinated with the whole bidet thing and the electrically warmed seats in Japan.
What do you think?
