Dreaming
by GinafishI have a dream of visiting Ireland and Scotland one day. Along with England, Wales, and the Isle of Man (home of the BeeGees). Anyway, my dream goes far enough to look at real estate. I like…um..love..looking at real estate guides. Even though I don’t REally want to buy anything. It’s like window shopping for shoes. You know they’d hurt your feet, but they still are cute!
Anywho…
I thought I’d share with you a bit of today’s real estate offerings.
First we have a house that is comparable in size to what I live in now, except for the bit about the land. Nothing in Ireland really comes with any acreage to speak of.
Notice one bathroom. My house has two. *whew* Now notice the price? 175,000 Euros translates to $236,127.51 by todays exchange rate. Yeah.
Now for one that is so ready for renovating that one website mentions demolition. I kid you not. It says “Perfect for that heavy duty renovation project or demolition.” That means, it is so not ready to move into it’s not funny.
It has two sitting rooms (like a living room and den) but once again, only one bathroom. It has been abandoned for years, and it costs more! 189,950.00 ($256,299.54 to you yankees)
So what do you do when you get tired of looking at property that you can’t afford, that’s actually a tad smaller than what you live in already, but comes with no land?
You say ’screw it’ and look for a house worth moving for. No, it doesn’t have to be huge, it doesn’t have to come with a butler or maid (although…) *shaking head* No! It just has to be nice, livable, and worth moving to another country for.
FiNally! A house with two bathrooms! And 5 bedrooms! WooHOo!! And Horse stableS! On a WhOlE entire ACRE! WOW! All this for only $532,973.52 What?!? Half a million?? OMG! And yes, to seal the deal, here’s a picture of the living room and kitchen:
Do you see the tiny space available for the tv? Ahh…a nice fireplace. What’s that? It’s actually used to heat the house. Alrighty then! Oh, and did I mention the master bedroom is 12ft by 11ft? My current one is 15 ft by 15 ft. Maybe I’ll renovate the stables into a master suite? Hmmm..
But just in case you’d like to purchase this home for me, you can see it here:

edit: hubby asked me what the median income is for someone in Ireland so here’s that info. The exchange rate yesterday was 1 Euro for 1.40 American dollars. So multiply the euro by 1.4 to figure out dollars.
