Summer eating

by Ginafish

Do your habits of what you eat change in the summer? Ours do! In Arkansas the summer is hot and sticky and the last place you want to be is in the kitchen with the oven or stove on. It’s much nicer to stand in front of the fridge or freezer and feel the coolness touch your skin.

So what do we give up for the summer? Chili, lasagna, stews. What do we want to eat? Fresh vegetables like tomatoes off the vine, watermelon, salad and salad and more salad. In the summer we also try to grill more to keep the kitchen cooler, so that means I get a break from making dinner. WeeEE! :) I haven’t attempted to learn anything about grilling food and that is fine by me. If I had my way, my hubby would cook every night because I enjoy how he season’s food more anyway. But then he might get some crazy notion about cooking chicken livers and that’s just NnnNNasssstty!

Despite the season, there are some things we never cook at our house: Liver! Okra, beets, cabbage, ribs, or seafood (other than canned tuna).

So how do your eating habits change with the seasons? And what is something you Never ever never ever never ever cook that other people might eat constantly?
