Frustrated

I am soooOOOOoooOOOOOO frustrated. I am not a good shopper. I don’t like a lot of options, but if you only present me with three choices, then I want more. Ugh.

In the process of renovating 4 year old daughter’s room, I have decided that it is important to get bedding before I select a paint color, because I’d actually like to put color on the wall rather than go with white. So shopping for bedding, easy for some, extremely painful and addictive for me. There are so many factors to consider:

1. I am not shopping for my bedroom or to relieve my childhood. Stay away from anything remotely ’shabby chic’. It’s darling, precious and I would love it, but it doesn’t express my daughter’s personality.

2. My daughter is a sweater. No, not a cardigan, she sweats. A lot. She used a light weight quilt in the winter last year, with no sheet, sometimes no pajamas, and she’d still get hot. With the thermostat on the low 70s or high 60s at night. So this rules out any and all comforters and HeavY quilts.

3. I’m allergic to feathers, so nothing down filled.

4. Since we have budgeted for this, I’d actually like to decorate in a coordinating theme, however, I will not decorate with Disney Princesses, Bratz dolls, or Spongebob Squarepants. I realize these interests are fleeting and while I will purchase themed sheets, I will not cover the bed and bedroom with the likes of these themes. After all, with this size investment, you’d like for her to still like it in…oh 6 months…

5. My daughter has distinct likes and dislikes. She does not like pastels. She likes bright colors. She likes pink and purple the most. Have you seen any bright fushia pink and hot purple quilts for a reasonable price? Me either.

6. Did I mention I budgeted for this? That means while I have a budget, it has to accommodate the ENTIRE bed except the frame. So quilt, sheets, pillowcases, shams, skirt thingy, and matching curtains. Maybe a throw pillow or two would be nice. But with a BUDGET!!

7. When I shop online with my daughter, she doesn’t grasp the concept of looking only at the bedspread. She looks at the “room” and wants it all. In fact, the lamp and the pony props are her favorite parts. This is also frustrating for me.

8. Today I went shopping in stores. Not online, figuring I’d be in and out, bodda bing bodda bang. EeeeEEEnnnn. Thank you for playing! Even TarJey was disappointing. (i.e. Target).

9. So as for the addictive part, once I get online and begin to look, I can’t stop. I look at store after store after store and of course, after 15 minute’s they all look the same to me, but still…I can’t stop myself from looking because the perfect set will be there in just a minute!

So on the drive home, I told her that I was going to pick 3 sets for her to look at then she could chose one. I just pray she likes one of them otherwise she’ll be sleeping in a stark white bedroom, with a totally white bed, and the first time she takes food into her room, or draws on the bed (by accident, totally sure of that *sigh*), or wets the bed (joy oh joy), I will totally lose it.

But then again, as you can tell from my post today, maybe I already have.
