Friday!

Now…today I had to have the air conditioner repairman come over.
Luckily, by 5 p.m. the house was down from 85 to 82 so things are looking better for a cool nights sleep.
I’ve talked before (a long time ago) about how expensive it is too live green. I mean, really, who can afford a $9 package of 4 recycled toilet paper? And who really wants to buy recycled toilet paper?? Free Range, non hormonal meat, the cost of a tankless water heater, or hybrid car… ugh.
But there is something that’s in our budget and I’m going to go ahead and get. A Reel Mower. Don’t laugh. They still make them! And they are improved.
Okay, for those of you who are chuckling…I know why…our yard is huge. It’s not really a yard…It’s more like 2 acres mowed and 1 acre field. And yes, a lot of reviews say if you have lots of trees, don’t get one. And yes, a lot of reviews say that they cut grass really well, but weeds…not so much. At which, I have to laugh, because there’s a lot of dandelions poking their bright yellow heads up across the side yard. Oh…and did I mention that we have a few gum trees…so our yard is covered in balls of spikes?
But I have faith. Faith that I can actually get this mower to start. After all I can push. It uses no gas so I won’t run out while half way across the yard. Unless you count my personal gas, then I might run out of steam 1/4 way into the yard.
But hey! It’s exercise! It’s safe! It’s quiet! So I can go outside while the kids are playing and if they come to the back door to ask me something, I’ll hear them! I won’t have to turn off a mower! It also doesn’t throw stuff like a regular mower, so if the kids want to play outside, they can, and I won’t worry about it spitting anything at them!
So I’m going to do it. I’m going to buy a reel mower this weekend. But first, I have to borrow the tractor over here to cut down the foot tall grass to a managable level.
After the grass grows a little, I’ll let you know what I think of it.
