First day of the New Year

What does the beginning feel like? What does the end feel like?
Does the beginning make you excited? A rush of adrenaline?
Teetering on the edge. Jumping off the edge of the end. Falling off the cliff into the unknown.
Makes me think of bungee jumping. Scarey, screaming, feeling like I’m dying. The end of security. Knowing what you know.
A new beginning. Beaconing like a warm fire. The harsh cold is melting away. The bright light illuminates everything. It shows all that was in the shadows. It warms you to your core. There are no shadows within or without. The embrace is comforting.
The new brings hope. The new brings uncertainty. Do we live in the shadows or in the light?
