Physical Coordination
by GinafishSo, I’m not very physically coordinated. SurPRiSe!!!
I have great balancing skills, just no athletic skills. At all. None. Hence, I do not play sports. Any. When I was around 8 my mother thought it’d be a good idea to enroll my sister and I in dance, gymnastics, and tap dance classes. I was hyper at home, loveeed Shirley Temple, and although I have never displayed any especially ‘girly’ attributes, my sister was all girl when she was young, so these classes probably made sense at the time.
I SOoooOOOOooooOOOO Sucked. With a capital S. Yippee. Not. I wanted to be a natural, but dance just wasn’t coming to me easy, so after 3 months, we both dropped out.
So what did I do today? I enrolled my daughter in Dance classes of course! She’s going to become a prima ballerina and live out my dreams! Or she’s going to become an awesome tap dancer and take over River Dance, or something. She’s going to PERfoorRRm!
We’ll see. I can only hope that she enjoys the classes and doesn’t totally hate going. I figure she’s actually got a chance of being half physically coordinated enough to have fun, since my husband’s sisters were all very athletic in their youth.
They played softball and loved it! I went to softball games, and loved the peanuts. Que sera’, sera’.
Classes don’t start till after Labor Day, but tomorrow we are going shopping for ballet shoes, the leotard, and tights. Should be fun! And I hate to admit it, but I’m wishing she’d stick with it for at least one year, so I can get a legitimate picture of her in a tutu or a dance outfit with curled hair and blush.
(disclaimer: I will not now, nor ever, expect my daughter to fulfill any dreams of mine. I would actually gawk if she suggested being in any beauty pagents. I do not expect her to become a doctor but it would be nice. My highest aspiration for her is to become a responsible adult who treats others as she’d like to be treated, the end.)
So I’ll post a picture in a year. ![]()
