One week later…
by GinafishEthan has been in school for a week and two days now and I’m proud to say, it’s going great. For him and us at home. It still feels as if he’s gone for a long time, but we are all slowly acclimating to a new routine.
E is the type of guy that doesn’t offer any information unless it was super exciting, and even then, the details are fuzzy. He’s going to make a great ’silent’ type man. :p
So what’s a nosy mom to do? Grill him to bits! So what’s the best part of his day so far? Lunch of Course!! ha! The way he raves about the food, it sounds like he’s eating at a five star hotel. He gets a gleam in his eye as he talks about the rolls, or his voice goes up an octave as he says “Lunch was scrumptuous!” So for the first four days of school, we’d ask him how his day went, he’d say fine or great, and then we’d ask him about lunch. He’d shine.
About Thursday, I finally said, “Hey, you do know that food isn’t what school is about right?” Shakes his head yes. “So are you Leeearrrning anything??” He shrugs. His eyes start to glaze over…”Has the teacher asked the class any questions? Did you raise your hand?” He stares at the floor…
Um… “Hey Ethan, how was your snack?” Eyes Pop. “Cooookiiees!!!! Sugar cookies! They were the best!”
I guess the teachers waited until after the first week settled the kids down to actually teach anything. By Monday, he was reciting poetry about colors and by Tuesday, knew how to spell red and yellow. *Whew!* For a minute there, I wondered if I should just pull him out and go ahead and send him to the New England Culinary Institute.

So when I was in grade school, my favorite cafeteria food was the rectangle soggy pizza rolled up and ate in 4 bites. *eww!* What was yours?
