Where were you going to be?

Where did you see yourself 10 years ago? Doing what you are today? Or something different? My answer on the next entry…
So let’s see…if we go back, exactly to June of 1996, I was working nights at a huge corporation in a library. I was living with my sister, who I’d see on my nights off when she got back from work, 2 or 3 times a week. I wasn’t dating anyone seriously.
Ten years from then, I probably thought I’d still be living with my sister. But maybe a radio dj by then. No kids, no serious relationships. Going to stay in hotels for the heck of it. An underground sort of existence perhaps…
If you went back 20 years? To 1986? I was in high school. Then I knew I’d never get married, or have kids. I KNEW I’d be an independent woman, probably living in a big city with a glamourous job making lots and lots of money. In high school, though, what do you really know??
I’m glad I didn’t continue down either of those paths, and am where I am today. I’m glad to be a stay at home mom. I’m glad I got married. I’m glad I had a career, and then tossed it aside to do the most important job of all. And 10 years from now? Who knows what I’ll be doing…but I hope that I love it.
