Mother’s Day is NEEAARRR!!!

1. An atomic clock. What woman doesn’t complain about technology at some point? Give them something useful, that they don’t have to set, and they’ll be happy. Now my husband says not to give clocks to people you love, because then your love will fade in time. So I say… buy it, string it around the pets neck, let the pet give it to her.

2. What family doesn’t cook? And with today’s schedule, quick and easy recipes are a must for every day. To honor Isara, send mom this cook book. Be sure the inscription says “love, your kid, ps. check out Isara.com because it RoCks!”

3. Most women like jewelry to some extent. Does your mother love it? Yes? Well…do you buy her rings? no, sizing is too difficult. Do you buy earrings? No, I’m not sure if her ears are pierced…Hmmm one size fits all…. Ah Ha! A Brooch. And they are coming back in style. The nice thing about brooches also, is that the prices vary wildly. Spend as much or as little. If your mother has a hobby, there will be a brooch for it somewhere, be it pink ribbons, gardening (lots of flower brooches that won’t irritate her allergies), shoes, animals, modern art. There is a huge variety out there.

4. DVD’s, VHS, surely your mother has a tv? If not, books on tape are nice, but if she does, why not give her something she’d probably never buy for herself. Salsa lessons! Come on, you know she wants to dance… If not, view the box sets for musicals. :) Either will have her toes tapping.

5. So what if your broke? It’s the thought that counts anyway. Really! Now look for some scrape paper, a picture of yourself, and get to work on one of these crafts before it’s too late! Also good for dads to help kids make.

6. Along the same lines of being broke, is just wanting to give your mom something meaningful. A piece of yourself maybe?

Here’s something I personally find a little odd, and it probably takes a long order time, but here it is anyway:

7. What if you’ve got time, a computer, and not a lot of money? A photo slide show set to music is nice… Or you could burn a mixed cd like you use to make for your boy/girlfriend in high school. There’s places to buy music online (iTunes) or you can score free music to:

8. Are you the flowers kind of person? Yes, flowers are easy to order and have delivered, but sometimes, if your mom has a green thumb, plants are nice as well, and keep on giving. So visit the local green house and ask, what’s pretty, low maintenance, and will blossom year after year. Also let them know if your mom’s yard is predominantly shady or sunny. Or buy a houseplant. :)

9. Pamper her. A day either with the entire family, or away from the whole family. Which does she experience most, then give her the opposite. :) You might need to arrange this with other family members to make the most of it. If you give her a day with the whole family, be sure to arrange a potluck so she doesn’t have to cook, then stay for the clean up too. If she needs some alone time, send her to a dayspa, the movies, the library, beach, or just let her go do what ever she wants to do.

10. If you live too far away, have to work, or otherwise can’t be bothered much, at least do one thing, call your mother and thank her for bringing you into this world!
