Potbelly Christmas
by GinafishDid someone say that Christmas was a time of love, to celebrate with our families, to enjoy new gifts given and recieved? Bologna! Hog Wash! WhatEVer!
It’s a time to make PIGS out of ourselves from Thanksgiving to New Years Day. Every celebration is about the food when you get down to it. We just nicely package this eatting frenzy with the holiday bookends. And boy, do we eat. We eat at every party stop we go to. We eat to test out recipes before submitting them to the food buffet. We roll out the big guns and bake, and blanche, and broil, and baste, all the way to the next year. Meanwhile, we nibble, we taste, we just have a small piece of this and that. And before you know it, we’ve eatten more calories than the other 10 months of the year all added together. And then we moan, and groan, as we make our way to the refrigerator to see what’s left over.
Well, I’m not going to make excuses. I love to eat. So what! If I want another brownie, then why the hell not! After all, I might die tomorrow.
[that's my excuse for all fun, procrastination, and general glib remark to handle anything... after all, I might really die tomorrow]
Anything made with good cheese, chocolate, nuts, fruit, seafood, soynog, wine, or coffee with lots of sugar and cream. I’m just not going to pass it up. I’m going to taste it. Yes, it’ll take till March to fit into my regular size pants but we do this dance every year. Why quit now?
What food or drink do you not make excuses for or not pass up no matter what the scales say?
